Airport
Waterford Airport has received approval of €5m in funding from the Department of Transport, and along with €12m in funds from private investors and €2m from local government, it is hoped to have Waterford Airport's runway extended to accommodate a wider variety of aircraft, and to increase the range of routes and services.
Among the private investors who have shown a willingness to commit time, money and expertise to this project are Conor McCarthy (Leadmore Investment Company), Noel Frisby, Dawn Meats Group, Glanbia plc, Coolmore Stud, and Stafford Wholesale Ltd.
- Land adjacent to the airport is available to grow the airport’s ancillary businesses.
- The Irish Coastguard Search & Rescue has two Sikorsky rescue helicopters based in Waterford airport and CHC, the Coastguard’s operating company, do their training & service their fleet in Waterford.
